Summary

Field comparison of four spatial repellent devices, including the OFF! Clip-On and Thermacell, using surrogate-human trap sites.

Key findings

The OFF! Clip-On (metofluthrin) and Thermacell (d-cis/trans-allethrin) significantly reduced captures at CO2/octenol trap sites, with reductions up to 84% for one or more species, while a dichlorvos strip did not work.

Limitations

Used surrogate CO2/octenol traps rather than human landing catch, so results are a proxy for personal protection.
