Summary

Field trial of the allethrin Thermacell area repellent at multiple distances over six hours.

Key findings

The Thermacell (cis/trans-allethrin butane unit) gave 90.2 to 97.4% protection against mosquitoes (mean 93%) and stayed above 90% for 6 hours, tested at 2.3, 4.6, and 7.6 m from the unit.

Limitations

Only six test nights at a single location, so durability and weather effects are undersampled.
