Summary
Acute mammalian toxicity study of a meperfluthrin-based mosquito coil.
Key findings
Oral LD50 above 2000 mg/kg (low acute oral toxicity) and non-irritating to skin and eye, but inhalation was the route of concern, with lung and kidney histopathology at high exposure. Inhalation, not skin contact, is the hazard to respect.
Limitations
Small acute study of a whole coil formulation including combustion products, in a low-impact journal.
