Summary

An experimental study applying a d-limonene insecticidal dip to cats. Cats developed hypersalivation, and at higher concentrations moderate-to-severe ataxia, muscle tremors, and hypothermia, showing why citrus-oil products can harm cats.

Key findings

Signs scaled with concentration and exposure, and cats were markedly more sensitive than the assumed safe doses.

Limitations

Older experimental study of one dip formulation, not a controlled repellent-efficacy trial.
