Systematic review and meta-analysis of methoprene and pyriproxyfen emergence inhibition across vector mosquitoes.

Key findings

Across 72 studies, pooled methoprene dose inhibiting 50% emergence was about 0.43 ppb (Cx. pipiens), 0.51 ppb (Ae. aegypti), and 1.82 ppb (Ae. albopictus), confirming potent sub-ppb emergence inhibition with substantial between-colony heterogeneity.

Limitations

Baseline susceptibility varies widely across lab colonies, complicating resistance benchmarks.
