Summary

Field trial of essential oil candles against biting insects at varying distances.

Key findings

At 1.0 m, geraniol candles reduced female mosquito catch 81.5%, linalool 64.9%, and citronella 35.4%, with repellency falling off sharply at 2 to 3 m.

Limitations

Protection is highly distance-dependent, near zero by 3 m, and measured by trap catch.
