Corn oil
Plant-derived carrier/active oil used in some FIFRA 25(b) minimum-risk botanical repellents. On the EPA 25(b) exempt active list.
Safety around dogs & cats
A fixed vegetable oil that is a carrier rather than an active, with no meaningful toxicity to dogs or cats beyond a possible loose stool if a lot is ingested.
Moderate confidence. Ratings from ASPCA Animal Poison Control, the Pet Poison Helpline, and published veterinary toxicology. This is general information, not veterinary advice. If your pet is exposed, call your vet or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435.
The evidence
Like other fixed seed oils, corn oil is not itself a mosquito repellent; controlled screens group these oils among the non-repellent bases. In a minimum-risk product it works as a carrier for the volatile actives that do the repelling.
